Wayne A. "Shum" Shambach Obituary

Middleburg - The overly anal, bucktoothed dutchman lost his years long battle with cancer on Monday, Aug. 4, 2025.

He was born on Sept. 27, 1968, in Lewistown, Pa. He was the son of Carolyn (Kratzer) Young and the late Kenneth Shambach.

On Aug. 27, 2022, he married the former Beth A. Keister, who survives.

He was a 1986 graduate of Middleburg High School and SUN Area Vo-Tech. He worked way too many years at Wood-Mode before his diagnosis.

He was a member of Zion Fellowship Church in Middleburg and the Middleburg Moose Lodge 1229. He was also a member of Shade Mountain Golf Course for many years before stupid cancer took that from him.

He enjoyed golfing, playing his goofy game on his phone and hunting with his buddies. His greatest joy by far was spending time with his friends and family.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a son Brandt (Chelsey) Shambach; daughter Sara Shambach and fiancé Johnny Brown; stepson Brandon (Lisa) Keister and stepdaughter Courtney Kreider; sister Kris (Wade) Kratzer and stepsisters Vickie Ritter and Judie (David) Steinbacher; as well as four nephews and a pile of great-nieces and nephews. His grandchildren, Beckham, Jordan, Scotti, Bryson, Matthew and Spencer were the world to him.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather Marlin "Gene" Young.

Please do this guy a favor and do not grieve but celebrate!

I had a very fulfilling life. For anybody who's life I touched, know that you touched me more. Life can be very simple if you're just kind to one another. Lastly, always do your best to have a great day, and if you don't ... try harder tomorrow!

A viewing will be held on Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, at Zion Fellowship Church, 1366 Zion Road, Middleburg from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2025, at 11 a.m. with Roger Clotfelter officiating.

Burial will follow in Zion Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Geisinger Hospice, 1253 North Susquehanna Trail, Selinsgrove, PA 17870 or to The V Foundation, www.v.org, for cancer research.
