Moorsetown, NJ - Violet May Soper died peacefully on April 1, 2026, in Moorestown, NJ, at the age of 95.
Violet (Vi) was born on November 1, 1930, in Sunbury, PA, to James and Esther Smith. She graduated from Sunbury High School in 1948 and began her career as a legal secretary.
On November 26, 1955, she married Robert (Bob) Soper of Selinsgrove, PA, beginning a devoted marriage that spanned decades.
Vi and Bob made their home in Selinsgrove, where they raised their four children. A woman of deep faith, Vi was a long-time member of Sharon Lutheran Church. She actively participated in bible studies and various volunteer efforts within the church. She also volunteered with Sunbury Community Hospital, Sun Home Health, and her high school class reunion committee. Vi was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Susquehanna Valley Garden Club.
In 2016, Vi and Bob moved to BuffaloValley Lutheran Village in Lewisburg, PA, where they spent nearly seven years before relocating to Brandywine Senior Living in Moorestown, NJ.
Even in her later years, Vi embraced life with enthusiasm. She enjoyed participating in activities at Brandywine Senior Living, including learning to play poker and pinochle.
Vi found immense joy in dancing with Bob, spending time with family and friends, gardening, flower arranging, reading, and relaxing at the family cabin. Those who knew Vi remember her
as a kindhearted, gracious, and compassionate woman whose devotion to her faith, family, and friends left a lasting impression.
She is survived by her four children: Leigh Ann Izzi (Ed), Jan Kristensen (Harold), Richard Soper (Melissa), and Kay Jambor (Pat); nine grandchildren: Jessica, Alyssa, Neil, Dana, Elliott, Emily, Chris, Jake, and Julia; as well as eight great-grandchildren.
Vi was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bob; her sisters June, Audrey, and Carol; and her brother Jim.
A service and celebration of life will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hainesport, NJ, on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., officiated by The Rev. Jessica Hahn. A committal and interment will take place at West Side Cemetery in Shamokin Dam, PA, at a later date.
