Violet H. Hummel, 94, of Lewistown, passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018, at Valley View Haven.

She was born Jan. 17, 1924, in Lewistown, a daughter of the late George and Hazel E. (Casner) Herrington, and stepfather, Talmage Shore.

Violet graduated from Derry Township High School, Class of 1942 and the Lewistown School of Nursing in 1945.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the adult Sunday school class, and a member of the Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing Alumni.

She is survived by two children, Richard Lee Hummel and wife, Jan, of Winfield and Patrcia Lou Fultz and husband David, of Lewistown.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Harold R. "Dick" Hummel; two brothers; and three sisters.

A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday at Grace United Methodist Church, followed by the funeral at 11, with the Rev. Dick Williams officiating.

Interment will take place in Mount Rock Cemetery.
