Montandon, Pennsylvania - Terry Neil Bly, Sr., 77, of Montandon, passed away peacefully at home from natural causes on July 16, 2026.

Born on Aug. 3, 1948, in Woodstock, Va., Terry was the son of the late Cyril Bly and Lucy Leib Bly. Though he eventually made Pennsylvania his home, he remained deeply proud of his Virginia roots throughout his life and often shared memories and stories of the place where his journey began.

Terry was preceded in death by his beloved parents; brothers, Tommy, Jimmy, and Bill Bly; and sisters, Ruth Ann Moore and Nancy Funkhouser.

He is survived by his devoted wife of more than 47 years, Esther Wise Bly, whom he married in 1979 and who remained the love of his life through every season of their journey together. His beloved sister, Patsy Hockman. His children, Anthony "Tony" Bly and daughter-in-law Annette, Terry "T.J." Bly, Jr., and Andrew "Andy" Bly and son-in-law Joshua. His cherished grandchildren: Jason, Nicolas, Maia, Terry III ("Trey"), Madestyn, and Scotty. Nothing brought Terry greater joy than being "Pappy." He adored each of them and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them, support them, celebrate their accomplishments, and create lasting memories together. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and his love for them knew no bounds. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who were blessed by his love and guidance. He also will be greatly missed by his faithful companion and beloved beagle, Sadie.

For more than four decades, Terry owned and operated Terry Bly's Wash/Wax, building a reputation for excellence, honesty and unmatched work ethic while serving countless customers throughout the community. Through his dedication to his craft and genuine care for people, he built more than a successful business; he built lifelong friendships and earned the trust and respect of generations of customers. His name became synonymous with reliability, quality and integrity.

Beyond his professional career, Terry possessed a remarkable talent for building and creating. A skilled carpenter, handyman, and craftsman, there seemed to be nothing he couldn't accomplish. He proudly built his own home, constructed and operated Leib/Bly Apartments, and spent many years improving and remodeling the beloved family cabin on Penns Creek with the help of family and friends. He found joy in creating things with his hands and took tremendous pride in teaching these crafts to his sons.

What made Terry's accomplishments even more remarkable was that he achieved them while overcoming a physical challenge that would have discouraged many others. Born with a disability affecting one of his arms, Terry never allowed it to define him or limit his ambitions. He approached life with determination, grit and an unwavering belief that hard work could overcome any obstacle. He accomplished more with one arm than many people do with two. He was a fighter, a problem solver and a man who simply never gave up.

He had a great sense of humor, a natural jokester who loved making people laugh and bringing smiles to those around him. Nothing made him happier than a house full of family. He cherished holidays, birthdays, cookouts, camping trips, road trips and every opportunity to gather with those he loved. He especially loved sitting around a campfire surrounded by family and friends, sharing stories, laughter and fellowship long into the evening. Those moments represented everything he valued most in life.

Terry enjoyed country music, cheering on his beloved New England Patriots and Philadelphia Phillies, NASCAR racing, and classic automobiles. He could identify nearly any classic car simply by its taillights.

He loved his country deeply and took great pride in supporting the United States Military. He was a charitable man and also loved surprising family and friends with meaningful gifts and thoughtful gestures. He never forgot a birthday, holiday, or special occasion. Every card, gift and phone call reflected how much he cared about the people in his life.

Terry also had a legendary sweet tooth and never met an ice cream flavor he didn't enjoy. He enjoyed spending time with friends at local gathering spots such as Smokey's Gas Station, Ye Ole Dodge House, Erb's, and May's, where laughter, fellowship and conversation were always plentiful.

Terry's life was defined by service to others. A man of quiet faith, he devoted countless hours to his church and community. He served as a youth football coach and president of the Lewisburg Midget Football League, participated in the church choir and served as an elected Auditor with the West Chillisquaque Township Zoning Board. Whether through volunteer work, mentoring others, lending a helping hand, or simply showing up when someone was in need, Terry lived by example and demonstrated what it meant to be a servant-hearted member of the community.

To know Terry was to know someone who valued relationships above all else. He was known for his unwavering integrity, honesty, dependability and generosity. If someone needed help, Terry was there. If a friend was struggling, Terry showed up. He could always be counted on to offer assistance, encouragement, or simply a listening ear.

Above all else, Terry will be remembered as a devoted husband, proud father, adoring grandfather, loving brother, treasured uncle, loyal friend and faithful neighbor. His legacy lives on through the lessons he taught, the lives he touched, the relationships he nurtured, and the love he gave so freely.

Though his family mourns his passing, they find comfort knowing that his example of perseverance, kindness, generosity and faith will continue to inspire generations to come.

Funeral services and Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Saint Paul's @ The Farm United Church of Christ located at 50 Brookpark Circle, Lewisburg. Officiated by his nephew, Pastor Robert Funkhouser.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that during the service you honor Terry's memory by sharing a special story, memory, or moment that you experienced with him. Those memories, friendships, laughter, and acts of kindness are the greatest tribute to a life so beautifully lived.
