Stuart Lengel Obituary
Mount Pleasant Mills, Pennsylvania - Rev. Stuart H. Lengel Jr., 92, of Mount Pleasant Mills, entered into rest at 4:25 p.m., Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Locust Grove Nursing Home, Mifflin.
He was born Dec. 14, 1932, in Gettysburg, a son of the late Rev. Stuart H. Sr. and Sarah (Bieber) Lengel. In 1998, he married the former Orpha (Hoffman) Dietz, who survives.
Stuart attended high school in Millerstown. He then attended Susquehanna University, where he obtained a bachelor's degree.
He was a Lt. Colonel in the United States Air Force and served as a chaplain for 20 years. He then moved back to Pennsylvania and served as a pastor for many more years, before retiring and settling down in Mount Pleasant Mills.
Stuart enjoyed fishing trips to Canada, gardening, golfing, bowling, and helping people however he could.
In addition to his wife of 26 years, he is survived by three children, Arthur Lengel and his wife Vickie, Susan Sieber and her husband Alan, and Lucille Yetter and her husband Kevin; one daughter-in-law, Susan Lengel; three stepchildren, Roger Dietz and his wife Mary, Cheryl Dietz-Hoose and her husband Tim, and Chris Dietz and his wife Courtney; three brothers, Harold, Clyde, and Richard Lengel; two sisters, Annamae Losch and Mary Sherman; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Stuart was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy (Ehrenzeller) Lengel; two sons, John and David Lengel; and one brother, Robert Lengel.
Family and friends are welcome from 9 to 10 a.m., Friday, April 18, 2025, at St. Stephen's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8489 Licking Creek Road, Mifflintown, PA, 17059, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m.
Burial will follow in St. Stephen's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery.
