Steven R. Houtz, 63, of Oberlin, passed away at home on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018.

He was born in Louisville, Ky., a son of Thelma (Peters) Houtz of Mifflinburg, and the late Howard "Bud" Henry Houtz.

Steven graduated from Mifflinburg Area High School in 1972, and from Bryant and Stratton College in Virginia in 1991, with an associate's degree in computer science.

After high school, Steven served with the United States Air Force from 1972-1976, and the United States Coast Guard from 1982-1986. After his career in the military, he worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as an information technologist, retiring in 2015.

Steven was a lifelong Penn State fan and loved the Pittsburgh Steelers. He loved to play his guitar and was an avid photographer, winning several awards for photos he had taken.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah (Fink) Houtz of Oberlin; sisters, Lisha Feaster, wife of the late Danny Feaster of Penns Creek and Brenda Houtz of Pittsburgh; a daughter and son-in-law, Sara and Mark McLawhorn of Chesapeake, Va.; step-daughter, Michelle Hostetter of Elizabethtown; step-son, Christopher Hostetter of Millersville; and five grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg.

Burial with full military honors will be in Indiantown National Gap Cemetery.
