Shirley May Burns
Shirley M. Burns, 82, of Stonington, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020, at UPMC Pinnacle, Harrisburg.

She was born in Sunbury on March 19, 1937, a daughter of the late Percival and Tryphena Marks. She graduated from Sunbury High School and married Leon Robert Burns on Dec. 31, 1955.

Shirley was a member of Stonington Baptist Church and served for many years on the ladies' auxiliary at the Stonington Volunteer Fire Company. She enjoyed being a homemaker and loved her family very much.

She is survived by her husband, Leon Burns of Stonington; son, Robert Burns and his wife Brenda of Stonington; daughter, Shyrl Bordner and her husband Scott of Milton; grandsons, Michael Burns and his wife MJ of Riverview Fla., Ryan Burns and his wife Tinicia of St. Charles, Ill., and Jordon Bordner and his wife Sara of Watsontown; granddaughter, Jocelyn Bordner of Milton; great-granddaughters, Alyson and Aubrey of St. Charles, Ill.; great-grandson, Ethan of Riverview, Fla.; and one sister, Evelyn Whipple of Paxinos

She was preceded in death by her brother, William; and sisters, Betty Kistner, Mary Reigner and Dorothy Lenig.

A viewing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at the Stonington Baptist Church, 2113 Hosta Road, Paxinos, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in the Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley's memory can be made to True Heart, a Christian country music ministry that Shirley faithfully supported. Contributions can be mailed to 133 Old Orchard Road, Milton, PA 17847 or to her church at Stonington Baptist Church, 2113 Hosta Rd., Paxinos, PA 17860.

She always had a smile for everyone. Sorry for your sadness and pain. Just think of how happy she is now and where she is. Love to all of you. time will help with the hole she leaves in your family.

I am so sorry to have heard about Shirley, since I was a little whenever I'd see her and Buster she always had a smile on her face. A smile that reached eyes. She is part of my childhood in Stonington and she will be missed!
