Shirley M. Bohner Obituary

Shirley M. Bohner, 97 of Northumberland, went to be with her Lord, Sunday, Jan. 26, 2025, at Sunbury Nursing and Rehab.


She was born Feb. 1, 1927, in Sunbury, a daughter of Stewart S. and Bessie (Persing) Knarr. She married Marlin A. Bohner on Aug. 2 1949. His death on Nov. 21, 2012, ended a marriage of 63 years.


After graduation from Sunbury High School in 1945, Shirley was employed in the office of Bittner's and Bowman's department stores.


She loved the Lord and worshiped Him at Emmanuel Bible Fellowship Church, Sunbury and sang in the choir for 35 years.


She was an avid Penn State and NASCAR fan.


She is survived by one son, Roger L. Bohner and his companion Tina L. Jackson of Northumberland; one sister, Ellen Benfer, formerly of Northumberland, and her many nieces and nephews.


In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers-in-law, Jane E. and Franklin S. Thomas and Parker Benfer.


Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, at the Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury, where funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. with Pastor Joshua Gibson officiating.


Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.


In lieu of flowers, contributions in Shirley's memory may be made to Emmanuel Bible Fellowship Church, 967 Mile Hill Road, Sunbury, PA 17801.
