Samuel Hilary Hort Jr., 67, of Millville, passed away peacefully Monday, Dec. 30, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, with his niece, Jalisa Kratzer by his side and holding his hand.


He was born Dec. 1, 1957, in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Samuel Hilary Hort Sr. and Violet Ethel (Share) Hort.


Sam graduated from Danville Area High School in 1975.


He was employed by various companies as a computer programmer.


Sam was a member of First Baptist Church, Danville.


He was never married as he said he loved to come and go as he pleased. He loved to travel and go hiking in places where he traveled. His most recent trip was to Peru.


Sam had many good friends and will truly be missed by all who knew him.


He is survived by two brothers, Wayne E. Hort and his wife Rita of New Columbia, and Franklin E. Hort Sr. and his wife Gail of Milton; as well as three sisters, Paula J. Kremer of Wyoming, Sharon L. Kratzer and her companion Thomas Hogendobler of Danville, and Sandra K. Lewellyn and her fiancé Jack Stillwagon of Carlisle. Sam is also survived by several nieces and nephews.


A Celebration of Samuel's Life will be planned for the spring.


The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 12 Brookside Dr., Danville, PA 17821.
