Salim J. Adami Obituary

Salim J. "Sonny" Adami, 92, formerly of Broadway Street, Milton, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, at the Watsontown Health and Rehab Center.


He was born Feb. 5, 1924, in Milton, a son of the late Anthony and Jennie V. (Lupo) Adami. He was married to the former Margaret R. Bonner who preceded him in death on July 23, 2011.


Sonny was a 1941 graduate of Sunbury High School and served in the Coast Guard during World War II.

He was employed by Metropolitan Life Insurance and Kemberling Foods in Hummel's Wharf before retiring from American Home Foods in 1989. In retirement he worked delivering flowers for Enterline's in Milton and he delivered Meals on Wheels.

He was a member of St. Joseph Church, the Elks, the Loyal Order of Moose, and the American Legion Post 71, all in Milton.

Sonny enjoyed bowling and playing cards and was an avid swimmer in his later years.


He is survived by five sons and four daughters-in-law, Anthony and Jill Adami, of Galeton, James Adami, of Milton, Michael and Tracy Adami, of Shillington, John and Sharon Adami, of Milton and Pat and Karen Adami, of Elmira, N.Y.; one daughter, Margaret Adami, of Brick, N.J.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great- grandchildren.

Sonny was preceded in death by one son, Connell Adami; two daughters, Kathleen Verrett and Barbara Adami; and one sister, Mary Fiero.


Friends and relatives will be received from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church, 109 Broadway St., Milton, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 with the Rev. John D. Hoke as celebrant.

Burial with military honors will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Milton.
