S. Harriet Mark Obituary

S. Harriet (Humphrey) Mark, of Harrisburg, left us for her heavenly home on May 1, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle Community Osteopathic Hospital in Harrisburg.

Born April 16, 1919, in Mount Pleasant Mills, Snyder County, she was a daughter of the late Urie and Reba (Amig) Humphrey. In 1957, she was united in marriage with Robert D. Mark, and shared a blessed union of 54 years, prior to his passing on March 31, 2012.

Harriet was a graduate of Laurelton (PA) High School and Thompson Business College, Harrisburg. Her working life spanned 50 years, and included employment at Harrisburg Hospital, the ILGWU and AFL-CIO, prior to her retirement in 1990. Following her retirement, she became a volunteer at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Harrisburg, where she had been a member since 1957. Harriet also did volunteer work at Harrisburg Hospital, Community General Hospital and Frey Village Retirement Center.

Harriet loved family, volunteering, vacationing, gardening and baking. She was known for her delicious "Sugar Molasses Cookies".

In addition to her parents and loving husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Mae Shirk, and her husband, J. Martin Shirk, and Marie Schrader, and her husband, Dan Schrader, and, two brothers, Warren Humphrey, and his wife, Charlotte, and Charles Humphrey, and his wife, Patricia. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends that she loved and was loved by in return.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Service on Monday May 7, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 3249 N. Old Trail, Shamokin Dam, PA 17876. Her viewing will begin at 10:00 A.M., in the church. A luncheon will be held at Hoss's, immediately following the service, prior to procession to Mifflinburg Cemetery, Mifflinburg, for interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4200 Londonderry Road, Harrisburg, PA 17109 or the Bethesda Mission, 611 Reily Street, Harrisburg, PA 17102.
