Northumberland - Ruth Ella Strouse went to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior this Easter, April 20. She was born on the base hospital in Quantico, Virginia, a daughter of Sergeant Hugo Winter and Lillian (Yost) Winter. Ruth was a graduate of Northumberland High School, class of 1944. She married Fred Strouse the same year, and remained a loving and dedicated farm wife for 62 years until his passing on Nov. 27, 2007.
Ruth was a devoted and faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church, Point Township, for 80 years. Ruth was known for her love, kindness, and devotion to her faith, over all.
She is survived by her loving family, who will miss her dearly, including her son, Thomas (Glenda); grandchildren, Thomas (Cheryl), Thonda Swank, and Amanda Gessner; great-grandchildren: Tomisha Howard (Phil), Trinity Swank, Sierra (and companion, Ashley) and Logan Strouse, and Jackson and Laurel Ramsey; and even great-great-grandchildren, Boaz and Esther Howard.
She was a dedicated caregiver to all of her grandchildren and was most happy when surrounded by family, including numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ruth was preceded in death by Fred, her stillborn twin brother, and her sister, Evelyn, There will be no service at Ruth's request, but memorial gifts may be sent to Grace Lutheran Church, 2190 US-11, Northumberland.
Arrangements are by the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King Street, Northumberland.
