Ruth Jean Reynolds, 101, of Danville PA, passed away to her heavenly home on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, at Vintage Knol1s, Danville. She was born Jan. 5, 1922, in Danville PA, the daughter of the late Walter A. and Ruth L. Remick Blue.
Ruth graduated from Danville High School in 1940.
She was married to the late Clarence W. Reynolds for 78 years. They were married on Jan. 30, 1943.
Ruth was a devoted homemaker for most of her life. She was employed at Danville State Hospital after graduating from high school as a nurse's aide. She was then employed as a Nanny before working at Danville Manufacturing. She thoroughly enjoyed selling Avon products throughout her life.
She was the oldest living member of Klinesgrove United Methodist Church.
A talented and gifted seamstress, Ruth enjoyed making clothes for her children and making Barbie Doll clothes. Her other enjoyments included taking the crafts she made to craft fairs, collecting glass baskets, decorating with her sunroom with sunflowers, and reading health books and her Bible until her eyesight diminished. She enjoyed walking around her neighborhood. One of her favorite things was dining out with her daughter Ruth, especially at Country Cupboard, Skeeter's and Pizza Hut. A stunning fashion plate, she loved shopping with her daughters and finding bargains. Ruth also was a great cook with her specialties including Apple Pie, homemade fruitcake and homemade chicken and noodles. Whenever you visited her in her home, she always made sure you never went home empty-handed. She will be remembered by all those who knew her for her most beautiful smile and her generosity to her family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters: Ruth Alleman of Dalmatia and Dona Reynolds of Delray Beach, Florida. Also surviving are two grandchildren: Keith Lenker of Halifax PA and Thomas Wertman of Boeme Texas; two great-grandchildren: Morgan Lenker of Millersburg PA and Jovi Wertman of Boerne Texas as well as one great-great-grandson, Kade Campbell of Millersburg PA. One sister, Phyllis Tyson of Tucson Arizona also survives as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Young, in 2022, one grandson, Todd Wertman; two sisters, Alice Geise and Grace Reinaker and four brothers: Charles, Sam, John and Max Blue.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Ruth's Life to be held on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, at noon at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 42 West Mahoning Street Danville PA with Linda L. Wagner, Celebrant officiating. Friends will be received from 11-11:45 a.m. Burial will follow in Straub's Lutheran Cemetery in Danville.
