Ruth A. (Meintzer) McBryan, 96, formerly of Danville, died at 5:54 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021, at the Bloomsburg Care & Rehabilitation Center where she resided for the past year.

Born in Danville on March 21, 1924, she was the only child of the late Raymond and Bertha (Hollabaugh) Meintzer. She was a lifelong resident of Danville and a 1942 graduate of Danville High School.

Ruth was employed as a secretary at the former Kennedy Van Saun plant in Danville for 10 years prior to the birth of her first child.

A devout Catholic, she was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Danville.

Ruth was a dedicated homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She was known for her cooking and baking skills and over the years made many delicious holiday meals for her family.

When her children were young, she enjoyed many family camping trips to state parks throughout Pennsylvania. She loved being in the outdoors and especially spending time on the beach at Ocean City, New Jersey with her family.

Ruth married Francis McBryan on July 14, 1950, and he passed away on March 5, 2011, ending a marriage of 60 years. She also was preceded in death by her son, Thomas F. McBryan on April 25, 2020.

She is survived by two daughters, Ann Marie, wife of Donald Shobert, Riverside and Jean, wife of Bernard Malett, Elysburg; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was affectionately known as "GeGe" by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 66 Center St., Danville, by Rev. Javed Kashif.

Interment will follow in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1133 Bloom Road, Danville.
