Ruth L. Klinger, 100, formerly of Herndon, passed away Thursday, Sept. 17 2020, at her residence in Hummelstown, Pa.

She was born March 4, 1920, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Jesse and Bessie (Hollenbach) Fecker.

Ruth lived most of her life in Herndon and was a 1938 graduate of Sunbury High School. She was married to Herbert C. Klinger, a World War II veteran and post master of Herndon, who preceded her in death in June 1990.

Together with her husband, Ruth owned the post office and three restaurants: The Sunbury Delicatessen, The Dew Drop Inn and The Hut. She was the head cook and baker, and her love of cooking was obvious both at work and home. She continued to cook for her family for many years after retirement and loved making family meals.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Herndon.

Ruth loved to read, especially mystery novels, and could often be found sitting on her porch swing reading. She also enjoyed taking her daily 5 mile walk along the railroad and the river. She loved cooking and baking and spent most of her free time in the kitchen. Everyone in Herndon knew she made the best pies.

She is survived by her three children, Thomas Klinger and wife Debbie, Ronald Klinger and wife Cindy and Wendy Magaro and her husband Ken; six grandchildren, Todd Klinger, Teri Hollinger, Brandy Harris, Eric Klinger, Angelica Lucas and Giana Magaro; 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Osman and June Deppen; and three brothers, Billy, Les and George Fecker.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
