Mifflintown, PA - Ruth H Gelnett, formerly of Watsontown, passed on October 31st at Brookline Skilled Nursing Facility, Mifflintown, PA. Born in Middleburg, Pa on November 8, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Hiram and Harriet (Beaver) Hackenburg. She married Stuart Gelnett in 1949, and they celebrated 67 years together until his death in 2016.
Ruth graduated from Middleburg High School in 1949. She retired from CVS in 1988 where she was a clerk and cosmetician. She was a member of the Watsontown Guild. She was known for her sewing abilities and had previously made draperies for Best Furniture Store in Milton, as well as wedding dresses, and clothes for children. She was also very skilled in knitting and crocheting. She made countless afghans, and she was known for the beautiful crocheted snowflakes she made for Christmas trees and has gifted them to many grateful recipients over the last three decades.
She is survived by her four children, Steve Gelnett of Middleburg, PA (wife Ginger), Scott Gelnett of Franklin, TN, Staci Prince of Equinunk, PA (husband Roderick), and Shawn Gelnett of Palm Beach Gardens, FL (wife Debora), two sisters, Joy Catherman of Mifflinburg, PA and Jeanne Flesch of Clarksburg, MD, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren with a fifth due in January.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Harold Hackenburg and a sister, Jeanette Culp.
Her private service will be held at the convenience of the family with interment in Glendale Cemetery.
