Mount Pleasant Mills - Ruby Baney, 77, of Mt. Pleasant Mills, entered into rest on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025, at home, with her loving husband by her side.
She was born Oct. 5, 1947, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late James and Katherine (Kohl) Auman. In 1968, she married James Baney Sr., who survives.
Ruby was part of Pineknotters' last graduating class.
She devoted much of her life to being a homemaker and caring for her children but also worked at Susquehanna University as a cook, and at Furman's Foods in Northumberland, American Hydro in Middlecreek and in Tupperware sales.
Ruby enjoyed going to TOPS and was a volunteer for 4-H for 19 years. She served many years as superintendent and secretary for the rabbit department of the Beaver Community Fair. She also loved babysitting her grandchildren and spending precious time with her family.
In addition to her husband of 57 years, Ruby is survived by four children, Katrina Freed and her companion Brian Benfer, James (Shawna) D. Baney, Jr., Dwayne (Tammy) Baney, and Larissa (Ronnie) Hauck; eight grandchildren, Travis, Amber, Trent (Danielle), James M., Dustin, Elizabeth (Edward), Tabitha, and Samuel; five great-grandchildren, Jessie, Josie, Brennan, Sienna, Evelyn and one on the way; one sister, Dolores Shaffer; and two brothers, Jim (Connie) Auman and Bill (Sue) Auman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Auman; and three sisters, Joanne Hendricks, Bettina Tucker, and Gloria Auman.
Services will be private, at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ruby's name can be made to the Snyder County 4-H Foundation, 713 Bridge St., Selinsgrove, PA 17870.
Arrangements have been entrusted to George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mt. Pleasant Mills, Pa., 17853.
