Roger L. Heintzelman, 70, of Danville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born March 28, 1954, in Sunbury, the son of the late Harry and Mildred Irene (Goodling) Heintzelman. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Simon "Sim" Troutman.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Bonnie L. Munn Heintzelman. They were married on Oct. 18, 1986.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Brent M. Heintzelman and his wife Chelsey of Naples, Fla., and Kyle D. Heintzelman and his significant other Leanne Topilnycky of Norwalk, Conn.; and one daughter, Erin N. Walden and her spouse Danielle of Blackwood, NJ. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Bryce and Aubrey Heintzelman, whom he adored. Also surviving are three brothers and one stepbrother, Clyde Heintzelman and his wife Shirley of Rockville, Md., Dean H. Heintzelman and his wife Karen of Kreamer, Pa., and Dale Heintzelman and his wife Nancy of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Jim Troutman of McAlisterville, Pa.; and two sisters-in-law, Janet Heintzelman of Dothan, Ala., and Erma Heintzelman of Freeburg, Pa., many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn Heintzelman and Rudolph Heintzelman; and one stepsister, Jane Masters.
Roger graduated from Middleburg High School in 1972 and received his associates degree in electronics from Williamsport Area Community College.
Roger was self-employed as the owner/operator of 1st Choice Medical, a durable medical equipment company specializing in orthopedic equipment, for over 25 years.
He was a member of Trinity Church in Danville since May of 1989.
Roger loved sports, and was a San Francisco 49ers football fan. He also enjoyed reading, watching television, and will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Roger leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and unwavering love for his family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Roger's Life to be held Friday, Nov. 8, at 4 p.m. at Trinity Church, 84 Lombard St., Danville, with his pastor, the Rev. David Layser officiating. Friends will be received from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m.
A private burial will be at the convenience of the family.
The family will provide flowers.
