Rodney Snook Obituary

Rodney "Rod" Snook, 54, of Lykens, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2019, at Select Specialty Hospital, Harrisburg.

He was born June 26, 1964, in Lock Haven, a son of Iolene Snook, of Loganton and the late Lewis Snook. On May 16, 1992, in St. Peter's United Methodist Church, Fearnot, he married the former Dawn Mattern who survives.


Rodney graduated from Sugar Valley High School in Loganton and attended Nashville Auto Diesel College. While in High School he was active in FFA and 4-H and was also a member of AFMA District 8 and District 11 where he was known as Tex.

He was employed as a diesel mechanic at Cleveland Brothers in Harrisburg and last worked as a truck driver at Zimmerman Truck Lines in Mifflintown.

Rodney enjoyed square dancing, camping, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He also assisted his wife with picking out colors for quilts.


In addition to his wife of 27 years, he is survived by one stepson, Jason Smeltz and his wife Casey of Urban; six siblings, David and Pam Snook, Bonnie Beck, Ellen and Sam Meyer, Connie and Mike Overdorf, Gale Snook, and Lewis Snook, Jr.; two grandchildren, Zoey and Taygen Smetlz; a special aunt and uncle, Hilda and Leroy Wagner; and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and his fur baby, Faith.


He was preceded in death by one stepson, Jeremy Smeltz; and fur baby, Sandisue.


A viewing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, at Salem Church of Rough and Ready, 11 Church Road, Klingerstown, followed by the funeral at 11, with the Rev. Keith Dimpsey officiating.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rebuck Little League, 189 N. Shaffer Road, Dornsife, PA 17823.
