Middleburg - Rodney N. Benfer, 65, of Middleburg, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, at his home, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Sunbury on May 22, 1960, he was the son of Daniel I. Benfer Jr. and the late Irene C. (Weikel) Benfer.

On July 20, 1985, he married Patricia E. (Bickhart) who survives.

Rodney is survived by a daughter, Nicole E. Pyle, (Kenneth D. Schreffler Jr.) and their children, Mason and Lily; his father Daniel I. Benfer Jr.; brother Tommy and his wife Sandy Benfer; sister Ruby Maurer and her husband Steve, many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Rodney was employed at Tedd Wood of Thompsontown, Pa. He was formerly employed at PBS in Middleburg, Pa. In previous years, he was a welder at Shumaker Industries from 1979 to 2008, and Great Dane and Kidron.

Rodney cherished spending time with his grandchildren known to them as "PopPop," loved taking walks to Turkey Hill for slushies and snacks, splashing in the pool and playing outside. He also enjoyed watching Western shows and working on house projects.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Irene C. Benfer; father-in-law George J. And mother-in-law Irene E. Bickhart.

Friends and family may attend a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by the service at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, at Saint Thomas Independent Brethren in Christ Church, 1070 St. Thomas Road, Mount Pleasant Mills, Pa., 17853. Arrangements are by Hummel's Funeral Home, Middleburg, Pa., 17842.
