Sunbury - Rodger Allen Babnew Sr., born June 12, 1943, to Katherine Elizabeth and Cliffor Shaffer Babnew Sr., in Philadelphia, both of whom preceded Rodger in death. Rodger is predeceased by his older brother, Clifford Shaffer Jr., sister Doreen Lee Babnew, and his only daughter Sharon Ann Babnew-Woodlin. Rodger is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean F. (Fallin) of Kresson, N.J.; married in 1962. Rodger is survived by his sons Rodger A. Jr., and Darren W., married to Heather L. (Colligan), and daughters, Amelia, Brielle, and Deqlynne. Rodger is also survived by five brothers, Allen J., Gary R., Donald L. Sr., Lester H., and David Sr. Rodger is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in Philadelphia's Bridesburg Area, Rodger lived in Philly for 42 years, then moved to Sunbury, where he continued to live from 2004 to June 2025. Rodger retired from ACME Markets in 2005 and went on to volunteer at the Lower Augusta Fire Department as an engine driver. He was the President of Northumberland County Democratic Committee for eight years, and the Vice President for many years after. Rodger was also a member of the PA State Democratic Committee for 20 years. Prior to moving to Sunbury, Rodger was a coast-to-coast tractor-trailer driver for 40-plus years, then a local driver for ACME Markets.

Rodger's hobbies included, but not limited to: Raising, training, and showing Irish Setters and English Setters and having cattle dogs herding livestock.

Rodger's Celebration of Life was held in Harrisburg on Nov. 8, 2025. Further details were mailed out to invitees for this invitee-only event. In lieu of flowers, the family requests all contributions be made to your favorite charity in memory of Rodger. Thank you for all your prayers.
