Lewisburg, Pennsylvania - Roberta Ann Pickering, 55, of Lewisburg, passed away due to complications from a stroke, Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023, at Nottingham Village, Northumberland.

She was born Aug. 26, 1968, in Bloomsburg, a daughter of William Henry Rice Jr., of

Catawissa, and the late Virginia Lee (Roberts) Rice.

She was predeceased by one brother, William Charles Rice.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Pickering whom she married on June 29, 1991, and together they celebrated 32 years of marriage. She is also survived by her three children, Jiali Pickering, Raymond Young, and Wade Young, all of Lewisburg.

Roberta was a 1986 graduate of Southern Columbia High School and a 1990 graduate of

Susquehanna University. Roberta earned her teaching certificate from Susquehanna University in

1991. She earned a master's certificate from the University of Connecticut and later a master's

degree from Wilkes University. Roberta was employed by the Lewisburg Area School District

where she taught high school English and theater for 28 years. She directed the high school

fall play for 14 years. Roberta was also a member of Christ's Evangelical Lutheran Church,

Lewisburg.

Roberta devoted herself to family, friends, and education. One of her biggest passions was

cooking and entertaining for her friends and family. She also enjoyed her pets, theater, and

reading. Roberta loved teaching her students about English literature. Her classroom door was

always open, creating a warm and welcoming environment for her students and colleagues.

Roberta was well-known within the community due to her commitment to the Lewisburg School

District.

Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, with a

time of reception following at Christ's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 S. Third St.,

Lewisburg, with Rev. Justin Lingenfelter officiating.
