Roberta Jo "Bobbie Jo" "Gerty" (Cauffman) Rumfelt, 36, of Millerstown, entered into eternal peace on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center after fighting a seven-year battle with cancer. Bobbie Jo was born Jan. 9, 1978, in Harrisburg, a daughter of Faye (Emanuel) Cauffman, of Millerstown, and Glen Cauffman, of Millerstown. She was married for 11 years to Lee Rumfelt, who survives. Bobbie Jo graduated from Greenwood High School in 1996 and Penn State University in 2001 with a bachelor of science degree in agricultural and extension education. She earned a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from Penn State in 2006. Bobbie Jo was a devoted seventh-grade science teacher at Central Dauphin East Middle School. She received the Outstanding Teacher Award from Central Dauphin School District in 2014. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Millerstown. She was active in FFA and 4-H during school and served as an FFA state officer. While at Penn State, she was part of the Singing Lions. Bobbie Jo enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her son, Ethan. She also enjoyed baking and delighting others with her homemade pies. In addition to her husband and parents, Bobbie Jo is survived by her son, Ethan; three brothers, Todd Cauffman, Mark Cauffman and wife, Joy, and Eric Cauffman, all of Millerstown; one niece, Sydney Cauffman; paternal grandfather, Robert Cauffman, of Millerstown; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gerald and Roberta L. Rumfelt, of Millerstown. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Ardella Cauffman; and maternal grandparents, Joe and Irene Emanuel. A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Family Life Center, 27 W. Shortcut Road, Newport. There will be no viewing, but an opportunity to visit with family and friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in loving memory of Bobbie Jo to the Bobbie Jo Scholarship Fund, c/o Christine Miller, Central Dauphin East Middle School, 628 Rutherford Road, Harrisburg, PA 17109.
