Sunbury - Robert Grant Yerger, 88, of Sunbury, passed away on June 24, 2025, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg. He was born the son of Grant Yerger and Julia (Amig) Yerger on July 15, 1936 in Selinsgrove. After graduating from Selinsgrove High School, where he was an outstanding athlete and one of the two surviving members of Tom Dean's 1953 football team that was the first SHS team to defeat cross-river rival, Sunbury (14-0), he continued his athletic career at Susquehanna University. He graduated from SU and remained an involved and staunch supporter of Crusaders athletic teams. In addition, Bob was undefeated as an amateur boxer.

He had a long and distinguished career as a parts department manager for several area auto agencies.

Earlier in life, like his father, he was an avid ice skater, especially at Little Norway. His many interests included black powder shooting and his son's motocross cycling, later he followed his grandson's outstanding high school and collegiate wrestling careers.

Robert, known to many as "Yogi," served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

He is survived by his wife, Debra (Young) Yerger; a son, Tony; a daughter, Fawn; and a grandson, Colt Cotton. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Marge, Jim and Kay. At his request, there will be no services.
