Chesapeake, VA - Richard (Dick) L. Snyder, 83, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on June 28, 2025. Born in 1941 in Lewisburg, PA, he was husband to Linda Biddinger Snyder and father to Melanie (Kris) Bauer, Marikaye (Sonny) Travis, and Marsha (Prince) Duke. Originally residing in Milton, PA, Dick and Linda have resided in Chesapeake, VA, since 2012.

Dick graduated from Milton High School in 1959, served in the U.S. Navy, was a member of the Keystoners Drum and Bugle Corps in Milton, PA, and a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Milton, PA.

Dick enjoyed cooking and this was known by his family to be his love language. Additionally, Dick enjoyed music, fishing, and Penn State, and was a long-time guitar instructor while residing in Milton. Music was a significant part of his life, and sharing that love and talent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him tremendous joy. Dick was fondly known as "Pappy" by his grandchildren Casey Huffman, Derek Waughan, Brock Waughen, Olivia Duke and Grey Duke and his great-grandchildren Blake, Carter, and Broden Huffman, Adabelle and Sawyer Waughen, Ryker and Huck Waughen, Clyde Bauer, and Flynn and Sadie Travis.

Dick is survived by brothers Ralph and Karl Snyder and is predeceased by his father and mother Frank and Mary Snyder, his sister and brother-in-law Ed and Eleanor Ranck, nephew Ralph F. Snyder, and sister-in-law Nancy Snyder.
