Shamokin, PA - Philip Dambrosia, 77, of Shamokin, passed away peacefully at his residence on April 3, 2026.
He was born on March 22, 1949, he was the son of the late Dominic and Margaret (Elliot) Dambrosia. Philip was a proud graduate of St. Edward's Grade School and Our Lady of Lourdes High School. He furthered his education at Bloomsburg University, where he earned a Master's Degree in Special Education.
On August 10, 1974, he married the love of his life, Sherry (Kratzer) Dambrosia, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage filled with love and devotion.
Philip dedicated his career to helping others, working as a teacher for children with disabilities in the CSIU, serving the Shamokin and Mount Carmel areas. Following his retirement, he enjoyed working at Knoebels Amusement Resort.
He was a hardworking, loving, kind, generous, and selfless man. Philip enjoyed attending auctions, collecting antiques, and going to the movies. He took great pride in supporting his grandchildren at their sporting events, musical performances, and academic achievements. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, especially during meals and celebrations.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry; his son, Matthew Dambrosia and his wife Carrie; and his daughter, Kimberly Moyer and her fiancé, Andrew Klembara. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Nicholas and Christopher Dambrosia, and Zachary, Marcus, and Paityn Moyer; and his sisters, Margaret Anne Burns and Maureen Duzick and her husband Michael.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Carole Hiles and Rose Michaelle Swinehart, and his brother, Joey Dambrosia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Mother Cabrini Church, 214 N. Shamokin Street, Shamokin. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Philip's honor to The ARC Susquehanna Valley, 326 Market Street, Sunbury, PA 17801 or Our Lady of Lourdes Regional School, 2001 Clinton Avenue, Coal Township, PA 17866. The family has entrusted funeral arrangements to James F. Kelley and Mary Kate Kelley-Kirby at the James Kelley Funeral Home, 1001 W. Arch St. at Maple Street, Coal Township.
