Percy Rufus Troutman Obituary

Percy Rufus Troutman, 89, of Dornsife, passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018, at Nottingham Village, Northumberland.


Percy was born in Dornsife, on Oct. 14, 1929, a son of the late Lena (Reed) and Arthur Troutman. He is survived by his wife of 68 years Pauline (Snyder) Troutman. They were married June 24, 1950.


He was a lifetime member of Himmel's Church, Dornsife.


He graduated from Pine Park High School in 1947.


Percy was self employed his entire life. He started with Troutman's Feed and Grain and then began Troutman's French Fries which evolved into Troutman's Food Service. For 25 years he managed the potato booth for the PA Co-Op Potato Growers at the PA Farm Show. He had also served as the Postmaster in Dornsife in 1950.


He was a 50 year member of the IOOF Mahanoy Lodge 551 of Dornsife and was the 2001 Past Grand of the Year. He was also one of the few men that were members of the Rebekah Lodge of Dornsife. Percy was a 50 year member of the Herndon F&AM Lodge 702, the Harrisburg Consistory where he was a 32 Degree Mason and also a member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon. He was a charter member of the Big Spring Hunting Club, where he served as treasurer for many years. He was also Judge of Elections for Washington Township.


He enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, bowling and traveling the world. He will be remembered for his zest for life and his enjoyment of being around people.


Percy is survived by six children, Patricia, wife of Andrew Kahler, Debra, wife of Michael Hyde, Richard Troutman and his wife Patty, Rahn Troutman and his wife Traci, Bonita, wife of Eric McDowell and Angela Troutman; 13 grandchildren, Melissa Davignon, Jared Troutman and his wife Jessica, Ryan Herman, Jason Troutman and his wife Jenna, Amanda Hyde, Clayton Hyde, Kaitlyn Troutman, Kylie Troutman, Connor Troutman, Alexander Percy Troutman, Laura Wassmer, Cameron McDowell and Parker McDowell and his wife Mariya; four great-grandchildren, Landon Troutman, Bennettt Troutman, Maxon Davignon and Abigail Troutman; a brother, Earnest, husband of Nancy Troutman; a sister, Elizabeth Michael; and many nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by a brother, Derl Troutman; and a sister, Thelma Romberger.


Viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at Himmel's Church, 107 Covered Bridge Road, Dornsife. The IOOF Lodge will conduct their service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday with the Masonic Lodge Service following. Viewing will also be held Monday, Dec. 17, from 10 to 11 a.m. with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jane Compton officiating.


Interment will follow in Himmel's Cemetery.
