Middleburg - Paul William Kratzer Sr., 85, of Middleburg, passed away on Friday May 29, 2026, at Brookline Manor, Mifflintown. On Nov. 19, 1960, he married the former Jean Marie Smith, who preceded him on Dec. 26, 2009.
Paul was born on May 7, 1941, in Middlecreek Township, Snyder County. He was the son of the late Robert and Mabel (Gill) Kratzer. He worked at AC&F, Milton, and helped on Fry's Farm. Paul enjoyed playing the guitar. He liked to tinker and work on garden tractors. Paul also enjoyed trips to the beach to fish, fishing in general, and hunting. The greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by a daughter Carolyn Rhoads and her husband Dale; a daughter-in-law Tamie Kratzer; four grandchildren, Heather (Scott) Reigle, Kyle Rhoads, Tyler Kratzer and his fiancée Deshawna, and Nicholas (Morgan) Kratzer; five great-grandchildren Emma, Charlie, Liam, Kole, and Kade, and two brothers Ronald Kratzer and Richard Kratzer.
In addition to his parents and wife, Paul was preceded in death by a son, Paul Kratzer Jr. and two brothers, Raymond Kratzer and Robert Kratzer. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. with Pastor Alvin Smith officiating. Burial will be in Salem Lutheran Cemetery, Selinsgrove.
