Paul L. Nye Jr., 72, of 520 Woodlawn Ave., Coal Township, passed away at 12:05 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018, at the Mount Carmel Nursing & Rehab Center.

He was born Jan. 1, 1946, in Sherman, Texas, a son of the late Paul L. Sr. and Barbara E. (Koch) Nye. On May 7, 1966, he married Barbara Culp in the Trinity Evangelical Church, Shamokin and they were happily married for 52 years.

Paul was a lifelong resident of Shamokin and owned Paul Nye Enterprises which consisted of Paul Nye's Sheet Metal, Paul Nye's construction, and Trains & Things. He and Barbara were vendors for the Bloomsburg Fair for 33 years and designed the Bloomsburg Fair railroad, and the first commemorative piggy bank for the fair.

He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Church, TCA, the Shamokin Kiwanis, the Elks, and with Dr. Edward Twigger founded the Lower Anthracite Model Railroad Club.

Paul played softball with the church and Weller Vending and was a former coach for Little League baseball. He was also an avid bowler. Paul loved his children and grandchildren and spent summers playing grampaw's nursery school with them.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children and their spouses, Susan Kleman, Paul and Sandy Nye, Robert and Lindsey Nye; grandchildren, Joseph Latsha, Conner, Garret, Broc, Elizabeth and Hailey Nye, and Cody Kleman; stepgrandchildren, Zack Tosyloski and Ryan Ciocco; one sister, Betsy Shinskie and companion Jeremy Dixon; one sister-in-law, Audrey Pomerantzand and her husband Joel; and his dog, Bella Lou Lou.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Scott Nye.

Friends and relatives will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Farrow Funeral Directors, 240 W. Chestnut St., Shamokin, followed by the funeral at noon, with the Rev. David Butler presiding.

Burial will be in the Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
