Fernandina Beach, Florida - Paul Heimbach met his Lord Jesus Christ on July 30, 2026. Paul is survived by his son Tom Heimbach; daughter-in-law Amy Heimbach; granddaughters, Abigail Heimbach and Allison Heimbach; brother Gary Heimbach and sister Naomi Dean. Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Alice Heimbach; wife, Donna Heimbach; son, Paul Philip Heimbach, and second wife, Mary Ann Heimbach.

Paul was born on Christmas Day 1938 in New Columbia, Pennsylvania. Followinggraduation from Selinsgrove High School, he attended Penn State University until a decision led him to join the US Air Force.

Following his marriage to Donna on April 24,1959, he attended Air Force Language School at Syracuse University, New York, where he studied the Bulgarian language and was named class valedictorian. He delivered his valedictorian speech in Bulgarian, amazing!

His first duty assignment in the Air Force led him to Germany where he flew intelligence collection missions on a C-130 aircraft listening to Bulgarian radio signals over the Black Sea. After Donna graduated high school in 1959, she traveled alone to join Paul in Germany. Their son Philip was born in September of 1960 in Wiesbaden, Germany. They returned to the United States for his next assignment, an Air Force officer program at Michigan State University, where their son Tom was born in March of 1963. Paul graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Political Science and attended Officer Training School in Texas where he was commissioned into the Air Force as a Second Lieutenant. The family moved to Denver, Colorado, where Paul attended Air Force intelligence school. In 1966, the Air Force sent Paul to Korat Air Base, Thailand where he served as an intelligence officer for an F-105 squadron during the Vietnam Conflict. He returned a year later with quite a mustache and many photos of beautiful Thailand.

Paul's Air Force career led him to Lowry Air Force Base, Colorado, Offutt AFB, Bellevue, Nebraska and the Pentagon, where he retired as a Major after 22 years of service on July 1, 1980. He then joined the Defense Intelligence Agency as a civilian working in information technology until 1986. Later he was one of three individuals who founded Lumintel Corporation, which focused on maritime intelligence systems support to 22 US Federal Government agencies. After Lumintel, he joined Synectics Corporation in Fairfax, Virginia where he continued work in national security until he retired.

Paul and Donna then became "Snowbirds," enjoying their summers in McClure, Pennsylvania, and winters in Kissimmee, Florida. He organized and led many Heimbach Family reunions and Civil War battlefield tours. Later they decided to relocate full time to their home in Kissimmee where they enjoyed life together until Donna met her Lord in June of 2016.

During COVID, Paul reconnected with an old family friend, Mary Ann Olson and they were married in August of 2020. They lived happily in Fernandina Beach, Florida, until she met her Lord in October 2023. His final days were comfortable at Discovery Village in Jacksonville, Florida. He had many friends in Fernandina and Jacksonville, including Larry and Margie Armstrong who were especially close to Paul, helping him often on his final journey.

Visitation is 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Gary Wayne Heimbach officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Mifflinburg Cemetery, Mifflinburg.
