Paul W. Brann Obituary
Lewisburg, PA - Paul W. Brann, 88, of Lewisburg, died Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Riverwoods Senior Living Community in Lewisburg, PA.
He was born on May 25, 1937, in Canton to the late Wilson and Mary (Wynne) Brann. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Jim, Kay, and Tom. On August 19, 1961, he married Carol Himmelreich (Lewisburg). Together they celebrated 64 years of marriage.
Paul was a 1955 graduate of Canton High School (Canton, PA), and a 1960 graduate of Mansfield University. He would later graduate from Dickinson Law School in 1973. Paul's years at Dickinson went on to shape his passion for the Washington Redskins, as they held their summer training camps at the campus in Carlisle.
Upon graduation from law school, Paul practiced law in Lewisburg for over forty years. His area law practice with lawyers such as Pete Matson, Wayne Bromfield (Matson, Brann & Bromfield, 1975-1980, Brann & Bromfield, 1980-1985), and Terry Light (Brann & Light P.C. 1986-2013) were steadfast fixtures in the community. The offices at 112 Market Street were one of Paul's happy places, putting his sharp mind and business savvy to work for Lewisburg residents and Bucknell students. In the ever-changing legal landscape, Paul famously said, "You really have to know a little bit about a lot of things."
Paul was also an adjunct professor at Bucknell University, teaching a Business Law class for over 25 years. Paul and Carol were big supporters of the Bucknell Bison sports teams over the years and were always cheering on the student athletes in their Patriot League endeavors. The friendships Paul and Carol built in the community, and at Bucknell, lived on deep into their retirement.
Paul retired from his law practice in 2013 (Brann & Light, P.C). In his retirement, he remained active at Bucknell and began volunteering as a clock timer at Bison men's and women's basketball games. He also spent time as a volunteer for the Union County Food Bank. Paul was an important figure in his grandchildren's lives, supporting their academic and sports endeavors.
Paul was a big fan of game shows, puzzles, and anything that would try and stump his busy mind. He was an avid fan of the TV show, Jeopardy, and a regular at crossword puzzles and Sudoku. He regularly enjoyed the annual holiday Trivial Pursuit games where he could outsmart his children and grandchildren. His competitive spirit was always on display at his other happy place, the Bucknell Golf Club. He was a regular at the course for many years. No putt was too short to concede, and he was always happy to get his drive on the ninth hole past the old barn. Paul had a huge appetite for reading and was a big fan of authors Tom Clancy and John Grisham. He loved movies that spoke to his lawyer mind, watching "The Fugitive" dozens of times.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two children, Michelle Brennan and her husband, John, of Reston, VA, and Eric Brann and his wife, Christine, of Hummelstown; five grandchildren, Liam (Los Angeles, CA), Garrett (Reston, VA) Bridget (Reston, VA), Kaitlyn (Hummelstown, PA) and Garrett (Hummelstown, PA).
Paul will be remembered for his gentle ways, his kind words of wisdom, his love of family and love of the law.
A celebration of Paul's life will be held soon in the Lewisburg area. He will be laid to rest at the columbarium at the Lewisburg Cemetery.
