Niles L. Oehrli, 79, of Cogan Station, died Thursday, May 16, 2024, at his home.
Born Aug. 2, 1944, in Sunbury, he was a son of Niles W. and Violet M. (Groner) Oehrli.
Niles graduated from Williamsport Technical Institute in welding. For over 40 years Niles worked for High Steel Structures of Williamsport. He served as a judge for the yearly welding competitions at Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Williamsport High School. He was a life member of Keystone Sportsmen Association, and a life member of AWS for over 40 years. In 1997, Niles was the Pennsylvania Singles Champion for Trap Shooting. For many years he raced motorcycles throughout Pennsylvania.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Shirley L. (Kepner) Oehrli; daughter, Linda M. (Tim) Dove, of Chugiak, Alaska; brothers, Joe, Robert, James Oehrli; sisters, Lori Coward, Sherry Brooks; granddaughter; Alicia Manasco; and grandson, Brian Stroble.
In addition to his parents, Niles was preceded in death by brother, Steven Oehrli; and sister, Marion Holland.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 7, at Oaklawn Cemetery of Warrensville, with Rev. Timothy K. Hartzell officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to McCarty~Thomas Funeral Home, Montoursville.
The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to the welding program at Penn College Foundation DIF 65, Pennsylvania College of Technology, 1 College Ave., Williamsport, PA 17701.
