Maryellen (Supsic) Schlagel, 100, formerly of Northumberland, died peacefully on Saturday evening, March 29, 2025, at the Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Danville where she resided since 2013.
Born in Shamokin on July 4, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Eva (Long) Supsic. She resided in Northumberland from 1969 to 2012.
Maryellen was employed at the former Danville Silk Mill for many years and last worked at the former Hanover Foods in Bloomsburg.
She loved gardening, especially growing flowers. She was a good cook and enjoyed taking care of her family, cooking and feeding people.
Preceding her in death was her husband John J. Schlagel, who she married on Oct. 11, 1940, and he passed away in 1973; a daughter, Lucinda Martha Bramley; three sons: John Schlagel, William F. Schlagel and Perry A. Schlagel; three grandchildren: Jennifer Schlagel, Rick Cook and Angie Schlagel; a sister, Margaret Mieczkowski and three brothers, Adam Supsic, Francis Supsic and Charles Supsic.
Maryellen is survived by two daughters: Eva Baylor, of Bloomsburg, and Rose Cook, of Danville, 12 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren. There are also numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Northumberland Memorial Park at Stonington.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1133 Bloom Road, Danville.
