Milton, Pennsylvania - Marybelle E. Shurtz, 90, of Milton, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

Born September 25, 1935 in East Chillisquaque Township, Montour County, she was a daughter of the late Clyde A. and Evelyn I. (Wessner) Heddings. On November 24, 1962 she married Richard M. Shurtz, and together they celebrated 55 years of marriage until his passing in 2018.

Marybelle was a graduate of Milton High School. She was a homemaker, seamstress, drove for Croman Bus Company, and cleaned homes for local families.

She was a crafty and creative person with multiple talents who loved her flowers and gardening, and enjoyed playing the piano. She also enjoyed caring for stray cats.

Marybelle is survived by a daughter, Cindy Gray and her husband, Amos, of Watsontown; a granddaughter, Rebecca Gray, of Jefferson, NY; three great-grandchildren, Rilie (Tyler Riley) Falconio-Gray, of Tennessee, Hunter Minalga, of Colorado, and Eddie (Taylor) Minalga, of New York; and a great-great-granddaughter, Wesley Minalga.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marybelle was preceded in death by seven brothers, Ralph, Richard, Harland, Guy, Frank, Irvin, and Alvin Heddings; and a grandson, Amos Wesley Gray, Jr.

Services and burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
