Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania - Mary Ann (Bolig) Strine, 79, of Bloomsburg, went to be with her loving Lord, Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023.


She was born Thursday, Jan. 13, 1944, at Sunbury Hospital, to the late Ralph F. and Margaret M.I. (Youse) Bolig. She graduated in 1961 from Selinsgrove High School where she was active with the marching band and concert band, playing the clarinet. She graduated in 1964 as an RN from Harrisburg's Polyclinic Hospital School of Nursing. After nursing school, she traveled to Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, NY, to work as a Pediatric Nurse. While in Syracuse she also worked as a nurse for an oral surgeon. After several years there, she returned home to work as a floor nurse at Sunbury Hospital. In the early 1970s she began a lengthy career as an Emergency Department Nurse for Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. While in the E.R. she also worked as a Poison Control Nurse. She finished her nursing career at Bloomsburg University's Health Center.


She married the love of her life, Harry C. Strine III on Flag Day, Saturday, June 14, 1969. They were married for 54 years.


Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was a son, Sean B. Strine, on Dec. 7, 2010; and an uncle, Sgt. Melvin Youse, who gave his life for our country over France in April, 1944.


Survivors include, in addition to her husband, a son, Dr. Harry C. "Neil" Strine IV and his wife Danielle, Bloomsburg; a sister, Ruth Ellen Young, Fletcher, NC; a nephew, Brian Troutman and his wife Robin, Vero Beach, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Kimberly Patton, Lancaster; and four grandchildren, Christian C. Strine of Houston, Texas, Connor T. Strine of Lancaster, Aurora F. Strine of Bloomsburg, and Celeste A. Strine of Bloomsburg. Her grandchildren, who affectionately referred to her as both "Mee Mee" and "Meeps," were the joy of her life.


Mary Ann was a loving and caring mother. When her sons were young, she was very active and supportive of all their activities both in and outside of school, which included serving as a Den Mother for their Cub Scout Pack and also a member of Scout Troop 21's Auxiliary. She helped with Meals on Wheels. She performed with her family in the Bloomsburg University Theatre production of "Our Town." She was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church.


She enjoyed reading, cooking, ballroom dancing, listening to music from the 1950s as well as traveling with her husband. Her travels took her to many interesting destinations both in the United States and Europe. She also enjoyed cruises.


A time of visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 123 Market St., Bloomsburg, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Joel L. Zeiders officiating.


Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Orchard Hills Memorial Park, Shamokin Dam.
