Danville, Pennsylvania - Mary Jane Hollenbach, 86, of Danville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 11, 2025. Mary Jane, who was affectionately known as Janie, was born in Rush Township, Northumberland County on Jan. 20, 1939, a daughter of the late Guy William and Dorothy Pearl (Gilbert) Garman.
Janie was a 1957 graduate of Danville High School. Janie worked at Danville State Hospital for over thirty years, as an aide and in medical records, before her retirement in 1999.
Janie was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Dale Hollenbach Sr. who passed away on June 2, 2022. They were married on March 14, 1958.
Janie was very family-oriented; she loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed family get-togethers, especially summer picnics. Janie's grandchildren have very fond memories of taking turns "living" at their grandparents home, throughout the summer months. Janie cherished this time with her grandchildren and enjoyed babysitting each of them.
For their 25th wedding anniversary, Dale and Janie gave each other a gift they could share with their entire family, an in-ground pool, in which each grandchild learned to swim. Janie loved animals, especially cats and dogs. She cared for many stray cats. Janie raised Newfoundland dogs and even showed them. Janie enjoyed gardening with her husband and canning the produce they grew, with her daughters, Kay and Sherry.
Janie was a lifetime member of Saint Paul's (Straub's) Lutheran Church.
Janie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one daughter, Sherry Herr, of Winfield, on March 18, 2023.
Janie is survived by one daughter, Kay Andrews and her husband, Gary of Danville; two sons, Robert Hollenbach and his wife, Debra, of Danville, and Dale Eugene Hollenbach Jr., also of Danville; one son-in-law, Carl Herr, of Winfield; seven grandchildren, Andrea Hess and her husband, Mark, of Danville, Shannon Lewczyk and her husband, Joe, of Milton, April Fry and her husband, Jeremy, of Lairdsville, Gary Andrews Jr., of Mechanicsburg, Jessica Auten and her husband, Eric, of Danville, Stephanie Minier and her husband, Mark, of Selinsgrove and Brittany Herr and her fiancée, Chris DiFerdinando, of Winfield; sixteen great-grandchildren; five brothers, William Garman, of Bloomsburg, Gary Garman and his wife, Gayle, of Riverside, Richard Garman and his wife, Margaret, of Danville, Kenneth Garman and his wife, Donna, of Danville, and Harry Garman and his wife, Cathy, of Allentown; two sisters, Peggy Geiswite, of Danville, and Betty Sassaman and her husband, Marvin, of Danville; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Friends and family are invited to a Visitation on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 5-7 p.m. at Brady Funeral Home, 448 Church St., Danville and Friday, May 16, 2025, from 10 a.m. to noon at Saint Paul's (Straub's) Lutheran Church, 639 Frosty Valley Road, Danville. Janie's funeral service will be held at noon at Saint Paul's (Straub's) Lutheran Church. Interment will follow, in Straub's Lutheran Cemetery.
