Mary E. Richards, 89, of Danville, Pa., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023, at Emmanuel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Danville, PA. She was born Jan. 30, 1934, in Joliett, Pa., the daughter of the late Edward Bernard Cleary and Jeanne Rebecca Cleary (Rumpf).

Mary graduated from Porter Tower High School.

She was married to her devoted husband of 66 years, James F. Richards of Riverside, Pa.

Mary was employed as a secretary at Pennsylvania House Furniture and an aide at St. Joseph School.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Danville, PA.

Mary enjoyed crafts, baking and was an avid reader. Her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her family.

She is survived by two sons; James Richards and his wife Beth of Concord, NH and Thomas Richards and his wife Louise of Riverside, Pa.; as well as two daughters; Margaret Wagner and her husband Stephen of Riverside, Pa., and Jeanne Williams and her husband Jeff of Catawissa, Pa. Mary is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters; Jeanette O'Brien of Wernersville, Pa., and Kathleen Knockstead of Reading, Pa.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers; Robert Cleary and Edward Cleary.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 68 Center St., Danville, Pa., 17821 with Father Timothy Marcoe as celebrant. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. in St. Hubert Chapel. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School, 1027 Ferry St., Danville, PA 17821.
