Marvin Earl Klinger Obituary

Marvin Earl Klinger, 83, of Dornsife, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 3, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born July 24, 1935, in Snowdale, a son of the late Laura (Ramberger) and Floyd A Klinger.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years Lena (Snyder) Klinger. They were married Dec. 18, 1954.


Marvin graduated from the Mahanoy Joint High School in 1952 and then served in the US Army and was stationed in Korea. After being discharged from the Army he used the G.I. Bill to attend Williamsport Technical School and graduated from there in 1959.


He owned and operated Marvin E Klinger Inc. and was a bus contractor and wrecker operator .


He was a member of Himmel's Church of Rebuck, the IOOF Mahanoy Lodge 551 of Dornsife, F&AM; Herndon Lodge 702, the American Legion Post 504 of Mandata and the Herndon Fire Company. He was also a member of the 10 Dutchmen Camp, Pennsylvania School Bus Association and was active with the PA Dutch Fersammling.


Marvin was and avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time at camp. He liked anything powered with an engine and was proud to have earned his pilots license.


In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Richard Adams; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Denise Klinger, and Michael and Kelly Klinger, all of Dornsife; one brother, Willard Klinger of Trevorton; six grandchildren, Merissa (Klinger) Rosenella, Jordan Adams, Tarryn (Adams) Walsh, Ryan Klinger, Amanda Klinger, Collin Klinger; and seven great-grandchildren, Logan and Wyatt Adams, Alexander and Brianna Rosenella, Casey and Riley Walsh and Cooper Klinger.


He was preceded in death by an infant brother.


A viewing will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, followed by the funeral at 11, at Himmel's Church, with Pastor Jane Compton officiating.

Interment will follow in Himmel's Cemetery.
