Northumberland, Pennsylvania - Marvin Klaassen, 85, of Northumberland, went to be with his Lord and Savior early morning July 12, 2025.

Born in Mt. Lake, Minn., on Sept. 14, 1939, he was a son of the late Jacob and Mary (Goossen) Klaassen. He was married to Margaret (Peggy) Klaassen for 57 years until her death in 2020.

Marvin was a graduate of Mt Lake High School and Grace Bible Institute. While attending Grace Bible Institute he enjoyed singing in a men's quartet that performed in various churches in the Midwest. Marvin also traveled to South America to help build roads after an earthquake. Upon arrival in Chile, he met his future wife, Peggy. After getting married, Marvin served alongside his wife as missionaries in Chile.

Marvin worked many years for Furman Foods. He loved teaching Adult Bible Studies as well as singing.

He is survived by his daughters, Marilyn Cryder and her husband Christian, and Miriam Hoffman and her husband Brad; grandchildren Malachi and Jordan Cryder, Micah and Sarah Cryder, Rebekah and AJ Daniels, David and Logan Hoffman; and great-grandchildren Ransom Cryder, Peregrin Cryder, Beren Cryder, Elanor Cryder, and Asher Daniels.

Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Klaassen, his infant son, Marvin Jacob Klaassen, his brother Glendon Klaassen, and his two sisters Ethel Neufeld and Jeanette Kroeker.

Friends and relatives will be received on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, 102 Lower Market St., Milton. The memorial service will begin at 11.
