SUNBURY - Marvin L. "Bucky" Deal, 83, of Sunbury, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus, who said, "I am the resurrection and life; he who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die," and his beloved wife, sisters and brothers on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was born May 16, 1927, in Sunbury, a son of the late Clayton A. and Lenna V. (Benfer) Deal. On Aug. 14, 1958, he married his beloved Nancy Jo Wilt, who preceded him in death on June 24, 1999. Bucky was a 1945 graduate of Sunbury High School and served in the Army during World War II. He was employed as a manager of the Sunbury Fourth Street Weis store and retired after 45 years of service in 1992. Bucky was a lifelong dedicated member of Albright United Methodist Church, Sunbury, where he served on the council and was in the men's Sunday school class. He was a member of Sunbury Masonic Lodge 22, a life member of the East End Hose Company and a member of the Senior Action Center. Bucky served on the election board of the 7th Ward and was judge of elections. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels and at Sunbury Community Hospital. Bucky loved his family and enjoyed attending as many of his grandchildren's events as was possible. He was an avid fan of the Phillies and Eagles. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Joni E. and Norman L. Koch and Nanci A. and Daniel M. Koch, all of Sunbury; four grandchildren, Ryan, Lauren, Logan and Seth; nieces and nephews; and his very special friend, Martha Kerstetter. Bucky was the last of his immediate family and was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Grover and Robert, and one sister, Martha Witmer. Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Albright United Methodist Church, Fifth and Chestnut streets, Sunbury, followed by the funeral at 11 with his pastor, the Rev. Ronald Troup, officiating. Burial will follow in Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury. Memorial contributions may be made in Bucky's memory to Albright United Methodist Church, Fifth and Chestnut streets, Sunbury, PA 17801, or the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701. Arrangements are by the David T. Zweier Funeral Home, 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury.
