Lewisburg - Marlin Gatty, 31-year resident of Lewisburg, Pa., left family and friends on Earth to join his Heavenly Father and loved ones, including his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Ballerini) of 59 years. He was a devoted father to his children Marlin (wife Magali), Scott, Carolyn and Maria (husband Vladimir Petorak); grandfather to Cristina, Nicholas (wife Becca) and Lara (husband Johnny Funk) and great-grandfather of three.

He was born of Italian immigrants, Geno and Josephine, and raised in PIttsburgh. He graduated from Grove City College and was an ROTC member. He was an instructor pilot in the U.S. Airforce, flying B25s and T6s in fulfilling his duty, after which he was an active reservist. He had a long and illustrious career with CIGNA in Group Pension Plans, advancing from sales to vice president.

Marlin was dedicated, goal-driven, passionate and quick-witted. He cherished his friendships and long-term companion, Eileen Schatten. He believed in giving back to the community, of which his greatest involvement was with Roman Catholic Churches, as a basketball coach, Sunday school teacher and men's club cook. He enjoyed DIY projects, cooking, winemaking and fishing. He was proud of reconnecting our family with those here in Italy. He visited almost yearly and hosted many since 1972.

We would like to thank everyone within the continuum of care at Buffalo Valley. They helped Marlin live with dignity during his journey with Alzheimer's disease. He and his wife were faithful members of Sacred Heart Church. Donations in his memory are welcome to any of the above. A future service will be held in Pittsburgh with family.
