Marilyn Rae Kerstetter Obituary

Marilyn Rae Kerstetter, 85, of 25 E. Lake Glory Road, Catawissa, passed away Monday, Oct. 15, 2018, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Theodore Hess.

She was born March 2, 1933, in Shamokin, a daughter of the late Warren H. and Elva E. (Chamberlain) Thomas. On July 5, 1952, she wed her life's love Joseph Warren Kerstetter Jr. and they were married 54 years till his death on Aug. 22, 2006.


Marilyn was a graduate of Coal Township High School.

She was a beautician and ran a shop at 1133 W. Arch St., for more than 40 years when she retired.

She was a dedicated church woman and asset to the community. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and a Past Worthy High Priestess of the White Shrine, active in the Tall Cedar's Auxiliary, was a member of the Masonic Travel Club, a helper for the Alzheimer's Association, and attended AGAPE in Bloomsburg.


Marilyn is survived two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra A. and Theodore Hess of Coal Township, and Donna L. and Walter Foura of Stewartstown; five grandchildren, Larry R. Snyder III, Chrystal L. Ginck, Joseph W. Snyder, Mary Carol Foura, and Rodney Foura; and five great grandchildren, Skylar Fry, Jayce Ginck, Joey Snyder, Kelsie Lynn Snyder, Kerstin Kahler, and Logan Foura.

She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Katilyn Nichole Yacko; and three siblings, Margie Kennedy, Allen "Lee" Thomas, Marvine Vannauker.


Friends will be received for a viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, followed by the funeral at 11, at Farrow Funeral Directors, 240 W. Chestnut St., Shamokin, with the Rev. Terry Zimmerman presiding.

Burial will be in Summit Cemetery, Irish Valley.
