Marge E. Bordner Obituary

Marge E. Bordner, 87, of Herndon, died peacefully on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at her home with family by her side.

She was born in Greenbrier, Northumberland County, a daughter of the late Henry Brosius and his wife Sarah "Callie" (Kieffer) Brosius.

Marge was a 1946 graduate of Upper Mahanoy Township High School, Leck Kill. She was fortunate at that time to attend Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, where she graduated in 1950.

In 1951, she married the late Richard L. Bordner and while he owned and operated a Kaiser-Fraser dealership, Marge was an entrepreneur who opened a diner called Dew Drop Inn. Later, she opened a children's clothing store in her home called the Tip-Top Shop. She taught special education and art in the late 1950s and early 60s at Mahanoy Joint School District.

Marge loved art and studied painting with George Bucher of Sunbury. She also had an avid interest in collecting, starting with old bottles which led to a lifetime of buying and selling antiques. She had her own shop near Herndon for 15 years, then she and her sister operated many booths at Roller Mills Antique Center in Lewisburg, for 25 years.

Always active with a sharp mind, she read the Wall Street Journal every day. She loved the stock market and discussing politics and current events.

She is survived by five children, Christine Wilson and Patrick, Kim Bordner and wife Lois, Ty Bordner and wife Marlene, Tammi Burns and husband David, and Todd Bordner and fiancée Chris Erdman; six grandchildren, Adrian Bordner and wife Katie, Ryan Bordner and wife Lindsey, Autumn and Kaleb Bordner, Sarah and Anthony Burns; two great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Bordner and Nicholas Bordner; one sister, Virginia Klinger, of Herndon; one brother, Guy H. Brosius, of Silverado, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Klock, of Dornsife.

A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Himmel's Church, Rebuck, followed by a memorial service at 11, with Pastor Jane Compton officiating.

Many thanks to Hospice and her many wonderful caregivers.
