Luke S. Brubacker Obituary

Luke S. Brubacker, 86, of Ephrata, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2017, at his home.

He was born in East Cocalico Township, a son of the late Aaron and Rebecca (Sensenig) Brubacker. He was married to Ida Ann (Martin) Brubacker with whom he shared 67 years of marriage.

He was a member of Stauffer Mennonite Church.

Luke was a carpenter, and after retirement he operated a gas appliance business.


In addition to his wife, Luke is survived by 12 children, Alice (Rufus) Martin of Vandalia, Ill., Ellen (John) Martin of Ephrata, Nancy (Ivan) Martin of Port Trevorton, Lilly (Irvin) Brubaker of Ephrata, Galen (Sadie) Brubacker of Port Trevorton, Clyde (Judy) Brubacker of Port Trevorton, Erla (Wayne) Brubaker of Port Trevorton, Ralph (Susan) Brubacker of Ephrata, Titus (Marlene) Brubacker of Ephrata, Ray (Delores) Brubacker of Ephrata, Rosene (Levi) Sensenig of Selinsgrove, Kathryn (Gene) Stauffer of Bainbridge, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Leah (Daniel) Martin of Denver; 90 grandchildren; 218 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anna (Clarence) Martin of Ephrata.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Lewis Brubacker; granddaughter, Darla Brubacker; several great-grandchildren; eight brothers, Harvey, Leroy, Amon, Amos, Titus, Phares, Rufus and Aaron Brubacker; and two sisters, Martha Martin and Katie Gehman.


A viewing will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the late residence, 751 Glenwood Drive, Ephrata. Funeral services will be held at 8:45 a.m. Thursday at the late residence, with further services at 9:30 a.m. at Stauffer Mennonite Church, 2530 Division Highway, Ephrata. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.
