Linda Lee Brosious Obituary

Sunbury, PA - Linda Lee Brosious, 75, of Sunbury, passed away on March 19, 2026, at Nottingham Village in Northumberland, with family at her side, following unforeseen complications from surgery in February.

She was born on March 8, 1951, at Sunbury Community Hospital in Sunbury, to the late William Leroy Brosious and Gladys Marie (Drumheller) Brosious. She was a 1969 graduate of Shikellamy High School, Sunbury.

Linda grew up in Northumberland, where she spent most of her life, she was a proud Pineknotter, in her last 20 years she then made her home on Mount Pleasant Road in Sunbury. She was united in marriage to her long-time partner, David Joseph Merrell Sr., on May 8, 2008. He preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 2014.

Linda was also preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Leroy Brosious; her sister, Marie Leona (Brosious) Wenrich (formerly Hazen); and her beloved dogs, Princess and Trixie.

She is survived by her daughters, Dannette Denise Shebest (Stuart) and Shannon Marie Reed; her step-sons, David Joseph Merrell, Jr. (Kelly) and Joseph Michael Merrell (Kathy); her grandson, Wyatt James Kohl(Ali); and her step-grandchildren, John Merrell, Cassie Ruckle, Jamie Ruckle, and Chaya Volkert.

Linda's strong work ethic began right after high school when she worked for Hall's Motor Transit in Sunbury and Mechanicsburg until its closure in 1986. She went on to work for Mohawk Flush Doors, Ward Trucking, and Consolidated Freight.

She also held a special place in her heart for her many years at Stuck Bros. Curve Inn Restaurant in Northumberland, where she worked in various roles from 1967 until its closure around 2004. The owner and staff there became like family — many truly were — and she formed countless lifelong friendships during her time there. Some of her fondest memories included having her daughter nearby in a playpen in the kitchen while she worked.

In her retirement, Linda continued to stay active, spending several years waitressing at Goodwill's in Montandon and the Turkey Diner in Washingtonville, where she enjoyed connecting with people and staying busy.

Linda was an active member of the Post 44 American Legion Auxiliary in Northumberland, where she helped support and participate in fundraisers. She was especially proud of her work fostering dogs through Haven to Home, where she lovingly cared for 38 dogs between 2014 and 2023, giving each one a safe and nurturing place to land. She also remained active in organizing and attending functions with her graduating class of 1969, maintaining strong connections and friendships throughout the years.

A private memorial will be held for her children at their convenience. A celebration of life for family and friends will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Linda's memory to Haven to Home Canine Rescue, Inc., P.O. Box 851, Berwick, PA 18603, or to WellSpan Evangelical Hospice, 1 Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
