Sunbury - Leslie A. Hackenberg, 79, of 6th Street, Sunbury, passed away peacefully at her home on Jan. 13, 2026.

She was born July 6, 1946, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Lester J. and Myrtle I. (Seasholtz) Baker. On Sept. 7, 1968, she married Bernard Hackenberg, who preceded her in death in 2011.

Leslie was a graduate of Northumberland High School.

She was a devoted homemaker, a dedicated wife and mother, and found great joy in caring for her family. Leslie enjoyed crafts, spending time outdoors soaking up the sunshine, cooking and baking, going out for coffee, and hosting major family holidays. Her home was often a gathering place filled with warmth and hospitality.

Leslie is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Danielle and Larry Ferster, Amy and Richard Tomczak; her son Bernard Hackenberg Jr.; her sister and brother-in-law Meg and Bill Moyer and her nephew Lester Neidig and his wife Lareno.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Swanger and Marta Baker.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 20, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m.

Interment will take place at Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
