Rev LeRoy EP Reitz Obituary

Spring Mills, Pennsylvania - Rev. LeRoy E. P. Reitz, a devoted Lutheran pastor, loving husband, wonderful grandfather and great-grandfather, and tireless servant of the Lord, passed away peacefully at home on his 87th birthday and wedding anniversary on May 2, 2025.

Born in 1938, LeRoy was the son of the late Thomas J. and Myrtle C. (Marcks) Reitz. He was predeceased by his first wife, AnnMarie (Engel) Reitz, his parents, and his thirteen siblings.

LeRoy is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Decker Reitz, with whom he created a home marked by kindness, hospitality, and a shared calling to care for others. He is also survived by his sons: Jeffrey Reitz and his wife, Lynette; Seth Reitz and his wife, Heather; Benjamin Reitz and his wife, Brooke; his stepchildren: Lisa Vavrick; Robert Decker, and his wife, Jill; and by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him great pride and joy.

Rev. Reitz will be remembered not only for his leadership and deep devotion to ministry, but for the quiet, faithful ways he lived out his beliefs each day. His legacy lives on in the lives he shaped and the hearts he touched.

Beyond the pulpit, he loved hunting and fishing, and cherished time spent with family at his cabin in Potter County and in the Outer Banks. He was a proud member of the Centre Hall Lion's Club and volunteered at the Penns Valley Food Pantry. In 2002, LeRoy was honored with carrying the torch for the Winter Games in Salt Lake City, a moment that he cherished.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the St. Luke Lutheran Church in Centre Hall from 10am to 12 noon. A Lions Service will be held at 12 noon and immediately followed with a memorial service to celebrate his life and ministry with Rev. Rebecca Horn and Bishop Barbara Jean Collins, Allegheny's Interim Bishop, officiating. He will be laid to rest privately at the Ebenezer Union Cemetery in New Tripoli next to his first wife.
