Larry E. Mordan, 67, of 53 Columbia Hill Road, Danville, died at 10:25 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born Feb. 4, 1952, in Mahoning Township, Montour County, a son of the late Raymond F. and Shirley Mae (Bryant) Mordan.
Larry was a lifelong resident of the Danville area and was a 1970 graduate of Danville High School. He served with the Army during the Vietnam War for two years.
He was employed by PPL Electric Utilities for 35 years, retiring in 2007. At the time he retired he was a lineman.
He was a well known local historian, especially for his activity with Iron Heritage. He was also known for his pencil sketches and drawings. As a young man, he was a Boy Scout attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and also as a member of the Order of the Arrow.
Larry loved old movies and spending time with his friends and family. He was proud of his Welsh heritage.
He is survived by his wife, the former Susan M. Smith with whom he observed his 46th wedding anniversary on June 3, 2018; three children, Jason Mordan of Coal Township, Tess Trowbridge and husband Cody of Danville, and Brett Mordan and his fiance Katie Newcombe of Watsontown; five grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Gail Louise and Charles Gregory of Danville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Kimber R. Mordan in 2016.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1133 Bloom Road, Danville, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with Pastor David Dixon officiating.
Interment will be in Straub's Cemetery, Frosty Valley.
