Larry B. Hostler Obituary

Larry B. Hostler, 64, of Mifflintown, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016, at his home.


He was born March 26, 1952, in East Waterford, a son of Gladys M. (Hampton) Hostler, of Mifflintown and the late Cloyd B. Hostler. On Feb. 2, 1973, he married the former Deborah K. Arnold and his death breaks a marital union of 42 years.


Larry graduated from Juniata High School in 1971. During high school, he was very active in FFA and earned the Keystone Degree.


He was a car inspector for the railroad for 38 years, working for PennCentral, Conrail, and retiring from Norfolk Southern.


He was a Lutheran by faith.


Larry enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, gardening and his animals, especially his dogs, Penny and Bow.


In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Danny B. Hostler, of Mifflintown and Melissa "Missy" McKee and husband, Gordon R., of McVeytown; four grandchildren, Lakata and Tyler Hostler and Ashton and Montana McKee; one sister, Janet Schroepfer and husband, Richard, of Lewistown; his parents-in-law, Paul and Gretchen Arnold,of Port Royal; and many nieces and nephews.


A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Guss Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, where the funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday with Pastor Donna McKee Rhoades officiating.


Interment will be in Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
