Kathryn Lorraine Gerst (Kitty) Obituary

Kathryn "Kitty" L. Gerst, 78, of Milton, peacefully passed away Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2023 — she was born Feb. 13, 1945 — ironically 13 was her favorite number.

She was the daughter of the late Walter and Evelyn Straub (Grove), Northumberland.


Kitty attended Northumberland High School where she met and married her high school sweetheart. They traveled through the United States Army to places that included Africa and Germany.


She was preceded in death by her oldest sister, Nancy Newberry; and her daughter, Sherry Lynn Strous.


She is survived by her other sisters and their spouses, Marie and Richard Hixson, Norma and Jim Swank, Evie and Thomas Wolfe, Christine and Bruce Spotts, and several nieces and nephews.


Kitty is also survived by her children and their spouses, Rene' and Orlando Toro, Pete and Tonya Strous; her grandchildren and spouses, Jason and Kelly Kline, Jessica and Zach Jacka, Heather and Brad Wetzel, Jenna DePhillips, Brandon Strous and Sean Strous; and her great-grandchildren, Jaide, Bailey, Aubreigh, Paislie, Natalia, Corri, Connor, Bentley and Grayson.


Kitty had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone in need, so in leu of flowers, please make a donation to her church, First Presbyterian Church, Northumberland.


A private burial in Riverview Cemetery, Northumberland, will be at the discretion of the family.
